Tryon Arts and Crafts School – Executive Director

Tryon Arts and Crafts School (TACS) is seeking an Executive Director (ED). TACS has been in operation nearly 60 years as a community and regional center. The mission of TACS is to provide creative opportunities for everyone through education, instruction, and expression of heritage and contemporary arts and crafts in a friendly, stimulating and enriching environment. TACS is a 501 © (3) organization.

 

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • A proven record in leadership for people and organizations
  • Credentials, aptitude or experience consistent with TACS mission
  • A history of successful fund-raising and grant writing
  • The ability to understand and manage a budget for a 501 © (3) organization
  • Computer proficiency
  • Exceptional written and verbal skills
  • A high level of ethical standards, integrity, discipline and company loyalty

 

Job Description

The ED:

  • Provides day-to-day management and execution of ongoing goals of TACS
  • Reports directly to the Executive Committee (EC), ultimately to the Board of
  • Directors (BOD) and is responsible for consistent achievement of the mission, financial objectives and development of future plans for the organization
  • Manages and supports TACS staff and provides advice on handling
  • any issues which arise
  • Oversees development of workshops and classes with the Education Committee
  • Negotiates salaries and sets class/workshop fees according to the Finance
  • Committee guidelines,
  • Develops broad guidelines of a marketing strategy with the Marketing Committee. Writes press releases and directs/participates in posting to social media,
  • Serves as an emissary and leader to other community arts organizations,
  • businesses, citizens and funding organizations essential to TACS,
  • Administers the current budget and assists in developing yearly budgets,
  • Writes grants to support the needs of TACS for program and structural needs
