Consign Your Art

Tryon Arts and Crafts School’s gift shop carries handcrafted items by regional artisans as well as selected work produced by our instructors and students. All gift shop items are approved seasonally through a jury process. If you wish to consign your original work through TACS’ gift shop, please follow all of the below portfolio submission instructions.

Gift Shop Portfolio Submission Guidelines

Applicants agree to and abide by the following terms:

  1. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
  2. Submit application by email (preferred) or printed portfolio – do not deliver or ship unapproved artworks to TACS.
  3. Applicants will receive a confirmation that their application has been received. Please take no further actions once you have received your application confirmation. NOTE: the front office staff is not answerable for the application, approval, or jury process.
  4. Applications are valid for 1 year.
  5. If approved, Regional Artists must pay a $30 annual fee for TACS’ ongoing representation and publicity.
  6. TACS keeps a 40% commission on sales; artists keep 60%; artists should set prices accordingly.
  7. Approval is not guaranteed to all who apply.
  8. Non-compete – artworks or series of artworks consigned in other venues within a 6-mile radius will not be considered. If you are consigned locally, you may still consign a select series of work with TACS exclusively (for example, boxes at TACS, birdhouses at other venue; or, apples at TACS, oranges at other venue).

NOTE: Depending on storage space at TACS, Regional Artists may be given the option to either deliver new work every 3 months, or to deliver work semiannually in which case part of their work will be stored and rotated in by TACS’ staff after 3 months. Since the display and storage areas are limited in space, the Shop Committee may not accept all of an artist’s inventory.
