Description

Soldering in tight spaces: links, prongs and dangles

In this course, we will focus on more complex and advanced soldering tasks.  Students will, depending on their level, complete a project with either links, prongs, and/or a kinetic element.  In addition to covering basic beginning silversmithing techniques, students will learn torch and heat control more intimately, and will gain knowledge of and experience with our mini soldering torch.  Different methods of anti-flow methods will be discussed, as well as proper soldering planning for projects with 3 or more seams.  Emphasis will be on learning to solder small objects close together without fusing them, a critical skill that is applicable to all formats of jewelry design.

Beginners in this class are welcome and will be advised to complete projects within their skill set, which may include some or all of the above, to be determined on a one-on-one basis.  Additional demonstrations will be offered to beginners as needed.
