Product Description

Course will review brief history of stone carving and materials.  Hand tools will be used to carve a 30-50 lb piece of alabaster and instruction on finishing and mounting stone if applicable.  Students will purchase basic carving tools, safety equipment and stone used for course.  Tools and stone materials fee explained above.

In addition, students will need to bring:

  • heavy lead pencil or grease pencil
  • sketch book
  • drawings or model of simple form they wish to carve
  • leather gloves or work gloves
  • work apron
  • dust mask
  • safety glasses
  • sand bag – old blue jeans leg about 30″ long and filled with sand and tied
  • ear plugs or ear protection
