SILVERSMITHING SESSION #3

          November 15 & 16, 2008

                 Saturday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm /  Sunday 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Tryon Arts & Crafts is fortunate to have Mr. Dan Haga, from Charlotte, NC, provide a third session of beginning silver class for our area.  Mr. Haga is well known and respected in the southeast for the quality of the numerous workshops he provides.   He instructs at the William Holland Lapidary School in Young Harris, GA, and the Wildacres Retreat in Spruce Pine, NC, as well as many endeavors in the Charlotte area.  A Texan by birth, Mr. Haga became so smitten with silver smithing that he sold his insurance business in 1995 to take on the jewelry trade full time and full force.

During this workshop, students will complete 2-3+ projects while learning the basics of silversmithing, tools involved, and use of the torch.  Some of the skills involved include sawing, polishing, wire bending, making bezels & toggles, setting stones, and using the flex shaft and paste solder. In addition to new students with beginning projects, Dan will also serve his on-going experienced students with projects of more difficulty.  This workshop also serves as a good refresher course for students with prior experience.

Advance registration is required. To register please call the Tryon Arts & Crafts at (828) 859-8323. Workshop fee is $120.00 for members ($130.00 for non-members) and is due at the time of registration.   Spaces will not be held without advance payment.  Payments can be made at or mailed to Tryon Arts & Crafts, 373 Harmon Field Road, Tryon, NC, 28782.   Credit card payments can be made in person or over the phone.    The cost of supplies will depend on the current cost of silver and the number of projects students do but expect a minimum of $60.00 to be paid to the instructor at the workshop.

For additional information concerning the instructor, you may call Tryon Arts & Crafts or Charlotte Caughman, Workshop Coordinator, at 864-473-0317 and/or check out Dan’s web site at: www.danhaga.hagaweb.com
