“Fast Track Hand Building”

This workshop will teach both newcomers and those with more experience with clay many things about the essential hand building techniques from which finely crafted and boundless creative work can emerge. Students will move along swiftly covering the basics of each technique: pinch, coil, soft-slab, as well as introducing many alternatives within each technique for the development of form in addition to embellishment in the green ware state.
The instructor, Ann Gleason, a local well-known and accomplished artist, received her MFA in ceramics from the University of Utah. She is a full-time professional potter; part time studio potter and part time teacher. Ann serves as an adjunct instructor of Ceramics at Greenville Technical College and in the past with Converse College, Wofford College, and Spartanburg Art Center, Blue Ridge Community College and Tryon Arts & Crafts. Some of her pieces are on display in the gallery of Tryon Arts & Crafts.

Workshop fee of $120.00 plus $30.00 for materials for members and ($130.00 plus $30.00 for non-members) is due at the time of registration. Spaces will not be held without advance payment. Payments can be made at or mailed to Tryon Arts & Crafts, 373 Harmon Field Road, Tryon, NC, 28782. Credit card payments either in person or over the phone.
Students are asked to bring a bag lunch.
