Description
Students will be introduced to working with clay on the potter’s wheel. Basic centering and throwing skills will be covered and practiced. This class will conclude with trimming and glazing their finished pots.
Class includes instruction, clay, and a tool kit for each student.
No experience is necessary.
To qualify for the lottery drawing, you must:
- Be a resident of Polk County, NC, or Landrum, SC
- Be a current middle or high school level student (public, private, and home school are all allowed)
- Commit to ALL 6 classes – Because each class session builds directly on the prior week, there is no opportunity for make-up sessions for absences.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Meghan Bernard has used her art education degree from Michigan State University to teach art at the French Broad River Academy for Girls, located in Asheville. She has also been a visiting artist at many Henderson County high schools. There she lead a pottery based fund raiser for food insecurity within each school. She is also on the Education Committee for the Southern Highlands Craft Guild.
