Description

All Skill Levels – Beginner

 

In this 6-week course, we will focus on the fundamental principles and techniques of using a 35 mm camera, including understanding exposure (aperture, shutter speed, and ISO), basic composition rules, different types of lighting, and some basic image editing, with the goal of enabling the students to confidently capture quality photographs with their camera, regardless of its level of complexity.

 

Key aspects of our Photo 101 class include discussions of:

Camera basics

Composition techniques

Lighting concepts

Practical shooting exercises

Image editing basics

History of photography

 

Who should take a Photo 101 class:

  • Anyone interested in learning the basics of photography and improving their skills with a camera.
  • Individuals who recently purchased a new camera and want to understand how to use it effectively.
  • People who want to capture better photos for personal use, social media, or hobbies.

 

Students Must Bring:

Camera, tripod, paper and pencil for taking notes, and a laptop to look at pictures.  And enthusiasm, lots of enthusiasm!

 

Directions:

Please note that this program takes place at TACS’s satellite photo studio space at 112 N. Trade Street Ste 4A in Tryon. Students may park in the lot to the left of the building, then enter through the front entrance of the Shops of Tryon on Trade Street. Once inside, walk to the back and left to find Suite 4A.
