Austin Burns brings a wealth of experience to his role as TACS Clay Studio Coordinator. A professional artist with a B.F.A. in Ceramics/Sculpture and Painting from LaGrange College, Austin has a deep understanding of the ceramic arts, from glaze chemistry and clay body formulation to wheel throwing and hand building. His expertise extends to kiln maintenance and firing, including gas reduction, electric, salt/soda, and raku kilns. Austin’s work has been featured in numerous exhibitions, including “Cup: The Intimate Object” at Charlie Cummings Gallery and “Fired-On” at the Saratoga Clay Arts Center.
Beyond his artistic pursuits, Austin has a strong background in arts education, having served as a Ceramics Instructor at both Tryon Arts and Crafts School and the Spartanburg Art Museum. His experience also includes work with museums and galleries, including the LaGrange Art Museum and the Lamar Dodd Fine Arts Center, giving him a well-rounded perspective on the art world. Austin’s passion for fostering creative environments and his commitment to the TACS community make him an ideal fit for this position.
