ONE NIGHT ONLY! The Return of McGourty’s Pub: A Night of Nostalgia & Legacy
The legendary McGourty’s Pub is coming back for one unforgettable night! Tryon Arts & Crafts School (TACS) is recreating the iconic watering hole to celebrate a local legacy and raise vital funds for community arts education. Step back in time with the original decor, familiar faces, and pure nostalgia.
For the regulars who fondly remember the original pub’s magic, this night promises pure, unfiltered nostalgia. Guests will step back into the familiar surroundings of yore, finding the iconic legacy seating booths, original tables, and classic Irish decor still intact. Attendees can look forward to seeing familiar faces from the old days. Mary Raines will be stationed right by the door to check IDs and distribute souvenir membership cards, while a crew of beloved former McGourty’s servers will be there to provide guest hospitality.
Doors open at 6:00 PM, leading into a packed trivia set hosted by Tim Daniels, perched in his traditional corner of the room – the event also commemorates the 10-year anniversary of Tim’s first trivia set at McGourty’s. After an intermission, the space transforms at 8:30 PM into a late-night karaoke lounge running until last call.
For area residents who never experienced the original pub, this is the premier summer event to support a cornerstone community institution. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit established in 1960, TACS serves our citizens through year-round arts and crafts education, multi-generational studio workshops, and active community outreach like the Empty Bowls in partnership with Thermal Belt Outreach. All proceeds from this weekend feed directly into keeping these vital programs accessible to all.

Where: McGourty’s Pub, 74 N. Trade St., Tryon
Admission: Online ticketing is strictly limited to 100 guests and covers entry only. Pre-purchase is strongly recommended to guarantee entry. Walk-ins subject to real-time capacity.
Activities: Trivia with Tim, 50/50 Raffles, Big Block Raffle, Karaoke Lounge
For Purchase: Beer and wine will be available for purchase inside. All food can be purchased on the paved parking lot behind McGourty’s. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the Main Gate at this same location.
