Description
Expand your ceramic finish palette and master three distinct glazing methods in this full-day hands-on seminar led by Mayco artist and educator Crista Toler. Designed for ceramicists looking to push their surface design, this intensive explores fresh mid-range combinations and dynamic low-fire techniques using Mayco’s newest glazes and specialty products.
Participants will complete three hands-on projects featuring signature layering, flux, and texturing methods:
-
Project 1 — Mid-Range Layering & Flux: Working with a Black Engobe base, students will apply and blend Mayco’s latest stoneware glazes—including White Flux, Lilac Speck, and Baby Blue Speck—to observe how fluxes break and react over dark underlayers.
-
Project 2 — Mid-Range “Oil Slick” Technique: Create a dramatic, iridescent finish by pairing Mayco Stroke & Coat glazes directly over Sparkle Black Engobe for a brilliant metallic effect.
-
Project 3 — Mid-Range “Frozen Pond” Technique: description coming soon!
