Intermediate Level
This is a 2-day course for blacksmiths who know the basics but want to acquire more advanced skills. On day one, we will discuss the theory of making scrolls and 2 ways of laying out the design of a scroll. We will then make 2 – 3 different types of scrolls and practice making collars. On day two, the student will design and make a simple grille, shelf bracket or triivet which will contain scrolls with collaring.
Students should bring safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, respirator/mask and wear all natural fiber clothes and leather shoes. Students may bring personal tools if they wish to. Students should also bring a lunch, drinks, etc., as desired.
