Welcome to FuseFest, an immersive weekend fused glass workshop series with social activities and demonstrations. Register now to reserve your spot in 3 sessions with Tony Glander, Liz Haas, and Brad Walker. The weekend begins with a meet-and-greet event in the school’s gallery. Then, on Saturday and Sunday, attendees rotate among the 3 artists’ workshops.

In addition to mingling and practicing glass fusion with trailblazing artists, enjoy exploring TACS’ Heritage Collection, Artisan Retail Shop, Library, and studios in other art disciplines.

Tony Glander

 

PROJECT: Innovative Slumping with Found Glass

Explore how to use and fire with float and/or tempered glass on molds.

 

Tony Glander is owner of Fitzpatrick Glass Studios in Gaithersburg, Maryland. He creates commission-based residential and commercial glass art. Tony’s personal practice incorporates new technologies and promotes environmental awareness. His glass art includes stained glass, fused glass, glass etching and digital imagery in glass. Tony’s studio offers educational programs in many disciplines of art glass, teaching both on the national circuit and locally in Gaithersburg. Tony authors a column on screen printing for Glass Craftsman magazine.

 

Liz Haas

 

PROJECT: Sandcarving Your Designs in Glass

Sandcarve a design into a wine bottle. Add a paint fill for contrast of design. Students will apply photomask stencils, Rayzist sandcarving technology, and add paint fill.

 

Liz Haas is the Education Coordinator for Rayzist Photomask. She has worked for Rayzist in customer service, sales, and technical support for 19 years. For the past 16 years, she has traveled teaching Sandcarving workshops on photoresist films and the Sandcarving process across the country. Liz has taught several training videos helping people succeed in the Sandcarving industry.

 

Brad Walker

 

PROJECT: Smooshed Glass

This technique involves the use of weighted materials such as kiln shelves placed on top of layered glasses to creating a watercolor effect. The glass is fired with weights, pressing it down while firing.

 

Brad Walker is the founder of warmglass.com, author of Contemporary Fused Glass, and an active instructor based in Clemmons, North Carolina. Warm Glass is a family-owned and operated business and trusted name in the fused glass industry since 1999. The staff include Brad, his wife Jody Danner Walker (Teaching Artist and Author of Printmaking Techniques on Glass), and their daughter and business manager Samantha Allen. The Warm Glass operation includes instruction (both domestic and abroad), glass art book and pdf publication, YouTube video production, and fused glass supply retail.
