Description

Learn bladesmithing from Father and Son Champion bladesmiths Billy and Joseph Salyers.

Make a knife from start to finish: forging, grinding, handling, finishing, sharpening.

Students should bring safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and wear all natural fiber clothes and leather shoes.  Students may bring personal tool if they wish to.  Students must be able to stand for at least 2 hours at a time and good hand-eye coordination is required for safety.

This is an adult educational program.  Students under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent.  Minimum age 14 with parent.

 

To qualify for the lottery drawing, you must:

  1. Be a resident of Polk County, NC, or Landrum, SC
  2. Be new to TACS’ Forge program
  3. Commit to attending the whole day
  4. Class slots are awarded through a lottery drawing. To enter the lottery, add this class to your shopping cart, and enter all requested information. Your shopping cart will show $0. PLEASE NOTE: By entering the lottery, you are not guaranteed a space in the class.
