Description
First-Class Wood Shop! TACS is equipped with superior woodworking machinery, which will be at your disposal – such as, Saw Stop, planers, drill presses, etc.
What is Studio Time? Studio Time is independent study. You bring your own ideas and we will provide a safe space to work, good conversation, and some guidance if needed. This is a great way to meet new friends with the same interests and to get some of your projects completed. Bernard will also bring materials for a basic carving project in case you need inspiration.
Wood Studio Only: This free studio time offer applies only to the Wood Studio, and only on the provided dates. Students who miss a session may not make-up studio time on alternate dates, but they may purchase additional studio time as needed.
Studio Monitor: Local carver and woodworker, Bernard Edwards, will provide light assistance and reinforce safe use of equipment and materials. However, unlike his 6-week wood carving classes, Bernard is not going to lead a full start-to-finish lesson during Studio Time. Students are expected to work independently.
Experience: Because Studio Time is independent study, participants must already have received beginner level training in woodworking and safety.
Students Should Bring:
- In-progress small wooden projects (whether it is boxes, animals, utensils, etc.)
- Hand tools (TACS provides big equipment, like saws)
- Materials (like wood, sandpaper, stain, screws, and fixtures)
All member students are welcome to register for supervised Studio Time. They may register for the entire 6-week term or reserve individual time slots as needed. Prescheduled appointments are required and may be arranged through the office. Supervised Studio Time is the same cost as regular Studio Time – 6-Packs, 12-Packs, and Season Passes all may be used to make a reservation.
