Tryon Arts and Crafts School Receives Funding to Host Victoria Lansford’s Eastern Repoussé Jewelry Workshop

Victoria_Lansford_workingTryon Arts and Crafts School (TACS) would like to thank two anonymous donors for sponsoring acclaimed jewelry artist Victoria Lansford to teach an Eastern Repoussé workshop on October 18 and 19, 2014 at our campus on Harmon Field Road. The sponsorship will help to fund Lansford’s travel, lodging, and a substantial portion of her salary to offset student fees. The anonymous donors are core members of TACS as well as loyal and enthusiastic contributors to our school. The sponsors of Lansford’s workshop provide an example of one way that you too can contribute to TACS; that is, by sponsoring internationally known educators to teach high-demand workshops at TACS. To learn about the variety of ways that you too can support TACS, please visit https://tryonartsandcrafts.org/ways-to-give/

Eastern Repoussé is a metal smithing technique with historical roots in ancient Egypt, Greece, and Scythia, which allows the artist to create metal jewelry and other art objects with high relief and exquisite detail. To sign up for Lansford’s Eastern Repoussé workshop, you may register online at https://tryonartsandcrafts.org/product/eastern-repousse-workshop-with-victoria-lansford-on-october-18-and-19/ With students coming from other parts of the country to work with Ms. Lansford, early registration is Victoria-Lansford-Inspiraledrecommended. Please be aware that Ms. Lansford’s classes fill quickly and there are only a limited number of openings remaining for this workshop. TACS’ members will pay $210.00 and non members will pay $240.00 for the workshop. We invite you to become a member of TACS so that you can enjoy discounts on classes and workshops, receive updates through our mailing lists, and gain special access to our studios.

Victoria Lansford has generated an international revival of nearly lost metalsmithing techniques and paved the way for metalsmiths to rediscover variations from other cultures. Lansford’s one-of-a-kind wearable sculpture are art objects evoke the mysteries and splendors of ancient masters yet are infused with her own provocative vision. Her award winning artwork has appeared in numerous juried exhibitions and publications, including The Crafts National, Metal Inclinations 2, CraftForms, in Metalsmith and Jewelry Artist magazines, and on Home and Garden Television. Lansford teaches workshops in Atlanta, Connecticut, Wisconsin, New Mexico, Massachusetts, and, soon, in Tryon too.
