Description

All skill levels welcome.

Students will learn how to make a chain in brass and silver.  The skills learned will include making jump rings and chain rings, sawing with a jewelry’s hand saw, filing, basic soldering, making clasps, and basic finishing techniques.

Students will construct a chain the first day from brass, using techniques learned in class; the second day, students will construct a silver chain, using techniques learned the first day, with instructor guidance.

Students will also be learning how to clean sharp edges and clean solder joints with a file or flexshaft abrasive.  Basic torch skills will be taught with safety.  Basic torch skills will be taught with safety. And basic finishing processes for brass and silver jewelry.

 

Students, please bring if you have them: flat nose pliers, round nose pliers, cutter pliers, jeweler’s saw, file, any flexshaft attachments for removing sharp edges and finishing.
